Commercial Multi-Engine Rating
The Multi-Engine Rating, mandated by
the FAA, empowers pilots to operate
aircraft equipped with multiple
engines, opening doors to diverse
professional aviation opportunities.
Obtaining this certification requires
comprehensive training in managing
multi-engine systems, honing skills in
various flight maneuvers, navigation
techniques, and emergency
procedures. With the Multi-Engine
Rating, pilots earn the authority to
serve as Pilot in Command for multi-
engine aircraft, facilitating career
growth and specialized roles within
the aviation industry.

COMMERCIAL MULTI-ENGINE RATING
Fly for compensation or hire.
Requirements
•
Commercial Airplane Certificate
•
Able to read, write, speak and understand
English
•
Be able to obtain at least a 2nd Class
Medical Certificate
•
Receive and log ground training from an
authorized instructor
•
Accumulate sufficient flight time to become
proficient
•
No written test required
•
Pass an FAA Practical Test (Oral and Flight)

Experience
There are no Aeronautical Experience
Requirements for the Commercial Multi
Engine Rating, if the applicant already has a
Commercial Airplane Certificate.

•
Current FAA Aeronautical Charts. FAR/AIM &
AFD (or ForeFlight subscription)
